Mobile wallet usage in Canada continues to rise, spurring points deal with Air Miles
The AIR MILES Reward Program and Samsung Canada announced today two new offers that give AIR MILES Collectors the ability to get more Miles while completing everyday purchases. For a limited time, Collectors will get Miles when they use their AIR MILES Card via Samsung Pay.
The details of the offers are as follows:
Effective July 30, 2018 to December 31, 2018, Collectors can get:
> 50 Miles for linking their AIR MILES Collector Number to their Samsung Account
> 5 Miles when they use their AIR MILES Card in Samsung Pay at AIR MILES Partners (limit of 5 times and 25 Miles per week)
These new offers from the AIR MILES Reward Program and Samsung Canada enable Canadians to be rewarded while engaging in the latest digital wallet experience. According to the 2017 Canadian Payment Method and Trends Report, online transfers inclusive of e-wallet transactions are the fastest growing payment segment, growing by an average annual growth rate of 44 per cent.
Since 2017, Samsung Canada has been the exclusive handset brand offered within the AIR MILES Rewards Catalogue, enabling Collectors to use their Miles to get the latest Samsung handsets.
“At AIR MILES, we are focused on current market trends and evolving the way our Collectors engage with Partners to get Miles,” said Blair Cameron, President, The AIR MILES Reward Program. “The addition of Samsung Pay is a new and innovative way that our Collectors can participate in the Program. We’re thrilled to be partnering with Samsung on this new opportunity.”
“We’re excited to be working with AIR MILES to bring Samsung Pay to more consumers in Canada,” said Paul Brannen, COO and Executive Vice President of Samsung Electronics Canada. “With Samsung Pay, Canadians can use their smartphones for a variety of different payments and will always have the card they need.”
The AIR MILES Reward Program has nearly 11 million active collector accounts, representing approximately two-thirds of all Canadian households.
