No foreign currency transaction charges on new hotel rewards credit card

TORONTO-- Chase Card Services, a division of JPMorgan Chase & Co. and Marriott Rewards® have announced the launch of the Marriott Rewards Premier Visa Card from Chase. With the card, Canadian consumers do not pay the 2.5 percent foreign currency transaction charge, after the exchange rate conversion is applied, on purchases outside of Canada — in person or online. It is currently the only hotel rewards card in Canada to not charge foreign currency transaction charges on international purchases. The card also offers cardholders the ability to earn accelerated Marriott Reward points on all purchases, accumulate free night stays, and receive automatic Silver Elite Status.

Cardholders will earn:

  • 5 points per $1 spent at over 3,500 Marriott locations

  • 2 points for every dollar spent on car rentals, dining, and airline tickets purchased directly with an airline

  • 1 point per $1 spent on all other purchases

  • Marriott Rewards Premier Visa Card from Chase cardholders will receive 30,000 Marriott Rewards bonus points after first purchase, plus one free night after account approval plus one free night every year. The annual fee of $120 is waived for the first year.

The annual interest rate for purchases and cash advances is 19.99%.

The Marriott Rewards Premier Visa Card from Chase in Canada marks the fourth co-brand card offered by Chase. In the United States, Chase offers the Marriott Rewards Visa Signature Card and the Marriott Rewards Premier Visa Signature Card and the Marriott Rewards Visa Business Card.
