suretap Wallet to close down at end of August
Toronto--Rogers and its partners are shuttering their attempted entry into the digital wallet space.
The suretap wallet was introduced in 2015 to meet the growing demand among Canadians to carry more of the cards they wanted, without having to physically carry more plastic. Suretap allowed the digitization of these cards in a single app for smartphone customers within Canada’s largest mobile carriers. It introduced customers a way to store and use payment cards, gift cards, loyalty & membership cards, and was well received by early adopters.
The company says "With ongoing changes in the market, and an increasing number of mobile payment and banking options available from CIBC, Desjardins, Scotiabank, as well as other wallets such as UGO, we at suretap, have decided that we will no longer offer suretap after August 26, 2016."
After August 26th, 2016 all suretap wallet data will be securely stored in accordance with applicable law, the firm said, adding "Suretap does not and will not store any sensitive information such as credit card information."
The company issued information for suretap users, directding any questions or concerns about these changes, please contact our suretap support centre at email@example.com
Existing suretap clients will continue to be able to use the suretap wallet until August 26, 2016. After this date, the suretap wallet will be discontinued and no longer available.
As of today, suretap is no longer available for download from the Google Play Store or the Blackberry World Apps Store.
Your suretap wallet will stop working on August 26th, 2016. When users open the Wallet application, it will display the error message below indicating that the suretap wallet functionality is no longer available for use.
